I have been really looking forward to our first listen to a brand new June 21st release from Althea Rene. I love the fantastic sound she produces with her flute. I am not sure I understand the title to this album fully. It is titled Flawsome. Her music is not flawed in anyway but is more like awesome.  Hopefully the fl stands for flute and it means awesome flute. Starting our music off for this show with our first listen from Flawsome is Barbara Mae.

Composer and multi instrumentalist but primarily a keyboardist, Philippe Saisse also released an album June 21st from his group The Philippe Saisse Trio. The songs on this album are remastered versions of his highly successful album The Body And Soul Sessions done 13 years ago in 2006. A big hit back then was Do It Again.

May 31st trumpeter Cindy Bradley released an album The Little Things. It is truly remarkable that this huge star that is so popular at smooth jazz festivals, spends a good deal of her time dedicated to giving back by continuing to conduct hundreds of jazz workshops at high schools and community colleges all over the country. This week’s selection from The Little Things is Stockholm Summer.

May 24th Pieces Of A Dream released the album On Another Note. This group from Philadelphia, in its infancy, now more than 30 years ago, was discovered and mentored by the late, great Grover Washington Jr. In 1991 Grover had a memorable performance at the Catalina Island Jazz Festival and took Pieces Of A Dream with him to perform as his band. This week's selection is A Piece’s Fiesta.

I have more new releases from Brendan Rothwell, Walter Beasley, Craig Sharmat, Darryl Williams, and Johnny Britt.

In the middle of the first hour, I will play this week"s Billboard top three songs in smooth jazz.

The second hour is devoted to smooth jazz classics and leads off, as always, with five in a row during turn up the quiet time.

The concluding classic among classics segment will feature a collaboration from two of the greats, Earl Klugh and David Sanborn.

Thank you for your continuing support of this program and KKRN.
