New music from new and old friends

March madness

Stay In Your Lane - Courtney Barnett, from her new album, Creature of Habit.

Thin Aspirations - Heir To the Squandered Millions, a single from an upcoming album. They are led by Ross McLennan, who had success with his band Snout.

Squid - Fancy Weapon, it's a single ahead of an album expected in June. The band comprises Mick Turner (Dirty Three), Claire Birchall (Smoked Salmon), Joel Silbersher (GOD) and Guy Maddison (Mudhoney).

It's still 2026 - we're not sad or anything, but...

You Can't Turn Away - Crow, a single from of an anticipated album, their first in more than 15 years. In the early '90s Crow was called "the best band in Australia since the Birthday Party" by the music magazine Juice.

Cross My Heart And Hope To Die - Youmi Zouma, a band from New Zealand, it was on their album No Love Lost to Kindness, which came out in January.

Learn To Hate - Station Model Violence, from their self titled album, a February release.

From the vault

From 1973, Madder Lake, three tracks from their album titled Stillpoint.

- Salmon Song

- On My Way to Heaven

- Goodbye Lollipop.

We did research! Madder lake isn't a body of water, it's a crimson-coloured water-based dye that is mixed with some other stuff and used in painting.

Feeling better now

Under the Thunder - Skegss, from an album they put out in 2021 called Rehearsal.

Naxos - the Babe Rainbow, the song was on their 2022 album Organic Band, but this recording is from a 2025 live radio broadcast for a US station while the band was on tour.

Green Light - New Zealand singer Lorde with a single from 2017. It was also on her album from that year, Melodrama).

Yesterday's Gone - Flash and the Pan, from 1987, their album Nights In France. Written, produced and performed by George Young and Harry Vanda, of Easybeats fame.

Dom Mariani and the Majestic Kelp start us off, move us along, and tell us when we're done.
